The Person Behind the Quest
I didn’t choose this parenting path, but I’ve learned to appreciate the view from the side quest. My journey isn't defined by clinical milestones, but by the quiet victories we celebrate at the kitchen table.
When my child first started showing signs of neurodivergence, our 'normal' family roadmap vanished overnight. Suddenly, I was a primary advocate, an EHCP navigator, and a researcher, all while trying to keep my own ADHD brain above water. It was exhausting, lonely, and deeply overwhelming.
The SEN Side Quest was born from that struggle. I wanted to create the space I couldn't find—one where we talk plainly about the guilt, the burnout, and the unexpected joy. There is no clinical jargon here, just lived experience and the honest solidarity of a parent who truly gets it.
OUR MISSION
Making sure no SEN parent walks this path alone
The SEN Side Quest exists for one simple reason: to be the guide I wish I’d had when my journey began. We believe that lived experience is the most powerful tool a parent has. By sharing honest stories and practical insights, we aim to turn the daunting ‘side quest’ of navigating special educational needs into a path walked with confidence.
Our vision is a community where every parent feels less alone in the long nights and more equipped for the big meetings. We aren’t specialists or clinicians—we are fellow travelers committed to honesty, warmth, and the radical idea that you shouldn’t have to do this by yourself.
Lived Experience & Learning
Lived Perspective
Navigating life as an ADHD parent to an autistic son isn't something I learned from a manual—it's my daily reality. I share the honest, often messy parts of this journey because that's where the real connection happens and trust is truly built.
Ongoing Advocacy
My expertise is rooted in continuous, active advocacy. From studying the latest EHCP legislation to attending tribunal workshops, I'm constantly learning the legal and educational frameworks to ensure our community stays equipped, informed, and resilient.
Community Research
Through the podcast and blog, I’ve gathered hundreds of hours of lived-experience insights from parents across the globe. I research so you don't have to, turning complex procedures into plain-language guides that help you navigate your own side quest.
